Alfred Glaess

Funeral services for Dr. Alfred Glaess, 94, of Sulpur Springs will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 26, 2011. Military graveside services, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Dr. Glaess's grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Rotary Club.
Dr. Alfred Glaess passed away early Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Chicago, Illinois February 18, 2011, the son of Alfred Edmund Glaess and Louise (Zutz) Glaess. He married Kathleen Ann Alexander in Blacksburg, Virginia July 17, 1950; she survives. Dr. Glaess was a retired physician, the third person in the United States licensed to practice nuclear medicine. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and Rotary Club, having served as district Governor. He served on the Sulphur Springs Independent School District board and he was the president of Hopkins County Cancer Society. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Other survivors include: four sons, Dr. Alfred Malcolm "Mac" Glaess and wife, Ann, of Mt. Vernon, John Edmond Glaess of Bedford, Robert Wilbur Glaess and wife, Wayna, of Fate, Richard Martin Emil Glaess of Richland Hills; daughter, Charlotte Kratus and husband, Robert, of Mesquite; daughter-in-law, Euen Glaess of Niceville, Florida; grandchildren, Laura Glaess Roberts, Shelley Glaess, Jenny Glaess, Barbara Kratus, James Kratus, Brett Glaess, Kerstin Glaess, Matt Glaess, Ethan Glaess, Collin Glaess, Tanner Glaess, Logan Glaess, Kyndal Glaess and Patrick Bollman. He was preceded in death by son, Dr. James Alexander Glaess and two brothers, Harvey Glaess and Wilbur Glaess.
