Arlon Anderson

Funeral services for Arlon Loyd Anderson, will be conducted at Wesley United Methodist Church, Tuesday, August 2, at 4:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Yantis Cemetery with Ray Witt, Joe Wayne Anderson, V. D. Romans, James Buck, Don Hardin and Michael Smith serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnnie Emerline, Cleatus speed, Chief Star and Courtland Savage. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 1, 2011 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Arlon Loyd Anderson, 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Sulphur Springs on July 30, 2011 after a long illness. He was born on June 16, 1925 in Hopkins County, the tenth child of Henry and Sudie Anderson. After graduating high school he served in the US Army from 1945 - 1947 and did a tour of duty in Korea. After returning to civilian life he first worked at the Chance-Vought aircraft factory in Grand Prairie and then for the US Postal Service in Dallas. On August 29, 1952 he married Lillian June Gilbreath of Quitman and they later had two children; Michael Loyd (1955) and Kathy Elaine (1957) . He retired from the US Postal Service in 1980 and moved to Sulphur Springs where he enjoyed gardening and playing the guitar and banjo in nursing homes around town. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church for over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, June Anderson of Sulphur Springs; son Michael Anderson of Plano; daughter Kathy Rossignol and son-in-law Richard Rossignol of Lone Oak; granddaughter Marissa Smith and grandson-in-law Michael Smith of Rowlett and brother Kenneth Anderson of Plano. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Sudie Anderson; brothers Clyde, Carl, Joe, Howard, Doyle, Henry "Bud", Ennis "Andy" and Benny Anderson and sisters Fay Davis, Essie Calvert and Dorothy Monroe
Arlon was a gentle soul who lived his life by the Golden Rule and loved to help others. He will be missed by all who knew him.
