A funeral service for Bessie Goldsmith, age 92, of Birthright, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Paul Bailey and Don Shaw officiating. Interment will follow at North Hopkins Cemetery with Terry Goldsmith, Mickey Davis, Randy Cook, Mike Burnside, Mike Gibby, Greg Martin, Brad Martin, and Dr. Tod Conner serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Lanny Ramsay, Gus Hudson, Dr. I. L. Balkom IV, De Hungerford, Sam Sevier, Billy Crowson, and the members of Birthright United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home, Monday evening November 5, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Bessie Goldsmith passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Carriage House Manor. She was born on December 15, 1919 to Lawrence and Gladys (Chester) DeBord. She married Lawrence Elmer Goldsmith in Sulphur Springs on October 30, 1937. He preceded her in death in 2003. Ms. Goldsmith was a dairy farmer, cotton farmer, worked at Munves and H.D. Lee, and was an LVN and physical therapist. She was a member of the Birthright United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: son, Jimmy Goldsmith and wife, Joyce, of Birthright; daughters, Peggy Gibby and husband, Jerry Don, of Birthright and Nita Kelty and husband, Tim, of Sulphur Springs; brother, Chester DeBord and wife, Faye, of Ladonia; sisters, Mary Kleinheinz and husband, Carl, of New Glauras, Wisconsin, Jean Smith of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Doris Fennell of Ft. Worth; Grandchildren, Debbie Davis and husband, Mickey, Terry Goldsmith and wife, Gina, Donna Cook and husband, Randy, Janet Burnside and husband, Mike, Mike Gibby and wife, Sandra, Greg Martin and wife, Allison, Brad Martin and wife, Kristen, and Leah Conner and husband, Dr. Tod; Great-grandchildren, Amanda and Ashley Edmonson, Jamie, Justin and Jaden Goldsmith, Elizabeth and Christina Cook, Kenzi and Thor Burnside, Savana Jennings and husband, Danny, Tara and Canyon Gibby, Sloane, Spencer and Skyler Martin, Emily, Mallory and Abbey Martin, and Sadie, Kelty, Lucy, and Mac Conner; and one great-great-grandchild, Jemma Jennings.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dalby and Rudolph DeBord, and one great-grandson, Hunter Burnside.
Memorials may be made to Hospice at Memorial and/or Birthright United Methodist Church.
