Funeral services for Bessie Lavern Brown, age 86, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2011, with Sam Sevier officiating. A graveside service will follow at Finley Cemetery in Finley, Oklahoma at 2:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Smith, Sam King, Larry White, Jr., John David (J. D.) McGee, Larry Dean Danielson, Scott Hardt and Tommy Patterson. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2011 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.

Bessie Lavern Brown passed away at her residence Sunday morning, January 2, 2011. She was born in Comanche, Texas, on January 3, 1924, the daughter of Rutledge Sliger and Alice (Lowe) Sliger. She married Sam B. Brown in Waurika, Oklahoma on September 18, 1937. He preceded her in death in 2003. Mrs. Brown was a sales clerk at Howards, a caregiver and a homemaker. She was a member of Shannon Oaks Church of Christ.

Survivors include: six daughters, Gwendolyn Rose Wylie of Fredrick, Oklahoma, Florence Danielson of Sulphur Springs, Sanetta Hardt of Granbury, Geneva Darlene Smith, Glenna Lucille McGee both of Sulphur Springs, and Sammie LaVern Black of Greenville; 27 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, LaWanna Fay Harris, Donna Kay White and Juanita Ann Brown; sons, Lawrence Dean Brown and Tommy Wayne Brown; three sisters and three brothers.
