Betty Price

A Celebration of Life for Betty Price will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Debbie Riggsby, Rev. Fred Lewis, and Bro. Valanderous Bell officiating. A private burial will be held prior to the memorial service with Buzzy Ivey, Dr. Don O'Neal, Mark Spencer, Huel Hammond, Bob Gideon, Laddie Filak, Bob Morrison, Jerry Price, and Dr. Dan Roper serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gaither Day, Leo Weisniski, Ace Hamner, Bennie Dickson, Coy Johnson, Lillian Childs, Nadia Wright, Lawanda Rape, Fran Castro and Hospice at Memorial, PEO Sisterhood, and the Messengers Sunday School Class. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Betty Price, 74, of Sulphur Springs, went to be with Jesus on January 6, 2011. She was born in Hopkins County on October 21, 1936, the daughter of Carl and Ella Puckett Hendricks. She was introduced to her husband of 57 years, Bobby Price, by Dreyfuss Harrington who would later become her brother-in-law. They raised two children and were the proud grandparents of four granddaughters. Betty's greatest joy in this life was spending time with her family. She professed her most fulfilling accomplishment to be when she led someone to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church.
Betty is survived by her husband Bobby Price and her children, Vicki Thomas of Rockwall, TX and Gregg and Debbie Price of Sulphur Springs, TX. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Jaclyn and Annie Thomas, Natalie and Bryan White, and Abbey and Daniel Roper. Betty was joyfully awaiting the arrival of her first great-grandson in April 2011. She is also survived by a sister, Dimple Bishop of Garland, TX, two sisters-in-law, Marie Jones, of Wills Point, and Vera Harrington, of Sulphur Springs, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hopkins County Hospice or First United Methodist Church.
