Bill C. Watts

Funeral service for Bill C. Watts, age 93, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with Rev. Johnny Darrow officiating. Visitation will be held immediately after the funeral service at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. A private interment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Watts passed away at Christus Mother Frances in Sulphur Springs on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

Bill C. Watts was born on November 25, 1932, in Longview, Texas, to the late William Elijah and Violet (Easley) Watts. He married Jo (Seale) Watts in Dallas, Texas, on March 24, 1954. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Southern Methodist University in 1959. He built a successful career as an accountant and was the owner of Custom Shutters Inc. in Como, Texas. Dedicated to public service, Bill served as both Mayor and a member of the City Council of Sulphur Springs during the 1990’s. He was a faithful member of Wesley United Methodist Church and Shooks Chapel Methodist Church, where he generously gave his time teaching numerous Sunday School classes and sharing his knowledge and faith with others.

Bill is survived by his wife, Jo Watts of Sulphur Springs; daughter, Sara Gibson Fraze and husband Gary of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Luke Gibson and wife Lindsay, Jake Gibson; great-grandchildren, Scarlett Gibson, Wyatt Gibson; sisters, Betty Watts, Joyce Dent, and Kay Whitehorn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William “Buddy” Watts; brother, Donald Watts; sister, Dorothy Williams; brothers, Neal Watts, Carl Watts, Bobby Watts; and son-in-law, Carey (Hoot) Gibson.
