Bob Clinton Yancy of Sulphur Springs, Texas passed away Friday morning, September 16, 2011 at the age of 73. Bob was born in Lufkin, Texas on November 12, 1937, the son of Hobson and Vennie Yancy. He graduated from McAllen High School in May 1956 and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Baylor University in 1960.
A businessman for many years, Bob owned "Yancys," a gift shop in Mission, Texas and Rugged Construction, a home builder in the Rio Grande Valley. After moving to Austin, Bob was Assistant Superintendent of Del Valle I.S.D. for many years.
Bob was a member of Rotary International for over 30 years and was honored to be a Paul Harris Fellow. Bob was a lifelong fan of Baylor and his beloved Baylor Bears. He served in the United States Army Reserves.
He is survived by his children, Bobby Yancy and wife Madeline of Sulphur Springs, Diana McMahon and husband Michael of White Oak and Justin Yancy and wife Christa of Austin and eight grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his siblings, Doris Rose Hinson of Lufkin and Don Yancy and his wife Peggy of McAllen.
A memorial service will be held in Austin, Texas.
