A military graveside service, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, for Bobby C. Lawson, age 87, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Rockdale Cemetery. Mr. Lawson's great-grandsons will be serving as pallbearers. No formal visitation is scheduled.
Bobby C. Lawson passed away Monday evening, August 27, 2012 at Greenville Health & Rehab. He was born in Hopkins County, on October 16, 1924, the son of Clark William Lawson and Alma (Crum) Lawson. He married Mildred Owens in Hopkins County on September 11, 1944; she survives. He was a barber and a member of Davis Street Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Other survivors include: sister, Betty Lawson of Tira; grandchildren, David Lawson and wife, Angie, and Karen Polk and husband, Kilan, and great-grandchildren, Kyle Polk, Kody Polk, Faustin Lawson, Hayley Lawson, Dustin Lawson, Denton Lawson, Brent Rutledge and Tristyn Rutledge. He was preceded in death by son, David Clark Lawson; three brothers, Loyal Lawson, Floyd Lawson and Paul Lawson and two sisters, Ruby (Petty) Gray and Dorothy Lawson Coker.
