Carlton Sewell

Visitation for Carlton Sewell, age 89, of Cooper, Texas, will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Cooper, Texas with Nicholas Horton, Michael Horton, Paul Horton, Trevor Cagle, Roger Sewell, and Pat Bryant serving as pallbearers. Larry Brown serving as honorary pallbearer. Brother David Cook will be officiating the service along with some words from Nicholas Horton. Mr. Sewell went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

Carlton was born to O.C. Sewell Sr. and Lillian Lee (Wells) Sewell on December 16, 1933, in Hopkins County. Mr. Sewell Married his wife Mary Davis on June 5, 1954, in Durant, Oklahoma. Mr. Sewell served in the U.S. Navy and loved his country. After serving, he drove a truck for North American Van Lines. He then owned and operated a wrecker service just east of Sulphur Springs and he loved to go to swap meets. He was a member of Lake Highlands Baptist Church and a faithful witness to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Carlton always thought of others first, helping in any way possible. His family was the joy of his life.  

He is survived by his wife, Mary Sewell; daughter Gina Horton and her husband Micheal; grandchildren Nicholas Horton and wife Shawnye and Brianna Horton; great-grandchildren Holt Horton, and Bentley Horton; and several nieces and nephews.

Carlton was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers; daughter Carla Sewell; grandsons Adam Schechter, and Dylan Rivera.
