Cecil Moore

Funeral service for Cecil Moore, age 78, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Jackie McQueen officiating. Interment will follow at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with Marlin Jones, Ronny Jones, Larry Peek, Charles Ball, Harold Ball, and Ronny Bailey serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Mr. Moore passed away at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, Texas, on Thursday, August 6, 2026, after being diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer.

He was born July 23, 1948, to Leonidas “Honest” Moore and Pauline Cox in Sulphur Springs, Texas.

Cecil was retired from the Northeast Texas Farmers Co-op, where he had worked until he was 62 and had made many friends around Hopkins County and the surrounding areas.

He was always helping his friends and family when he was called upon. He did not like to see people in need if he had the means to help.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, sister Clydie Marie Mobley (George), brother Thomas Westley Moore (Molly), sister Effie Juanita McQueen (Luther), sister Betty Lou McQueen (Lonnie) and brother Roger Dale Moore (Melinda), a special friend Jo “Jodi” Emmerson of Paris Tx, best friend and nephew Billy McQueen. He is survived by his “sweet boy” Luke, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his best friend Ronny, who are all going to miss him very much.
