Christene Wright

Funeral services for Christene Wright, age 77, of Sulphur Springs, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, with Ricky Vicks, Gary McKinnon, Danny McCauley, Fred McCauley, Jeff Ward, Jim Bayuk and Eddie Moon serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m, Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Christene Wright passed away at her residence Thursday afternoon, May 13, 2010. She was born in the Hatchetville Community on November 22, 1932. She married James D. "Jay Byrd" Wright in Hugo, Oklahoma, on January 13, 1952. He preceded her in death in 1994. Mrs. Wright was a retired seamstress and a member of the Baptist faith. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies' Auxiliary.
Survivors include : two daughters, Cynthia Matthews and Leisa Oxford and husband, David, all of Sulphur Springs; two brothers, Kenneth Ward and wife, Marjorie, of Sulphur Springs, Bill Ward and wife, Norma, of Greenville; sister, Marcell Stroud of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Chris Matthews, Juanita Matthews, David Oxford, Jr., Laura Flournoy and Nikki Thomas; great-grandchildren, Gregg English, Lucas Flournoy, Matthew Flournoy and Logan Oxford. She was preceded in death by son-in-law, Roy Matthews, sister, Beatrice McCauley and brother, Wilbur Lee Ward.
