Funeral services for Clarence "Mitch" Jones, age 89, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 18, 2012. A military graveside service, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, will follow at Tira Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Tom Witt, Caleb Lewis, Kolton Jones, Rusty Story, Brian Story, T. J. Witt, Wes Broumley and Kevin Malandruccolo. Honorary pallbearers will be Preston DeShazo, Matt Story and Cameron Story. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 17, 2012 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Clarence "Mitch" Jones passed away Tuesday evening, February 14, 2012 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Dennison January 24, 1923, the son of Clarence H. Jones and Vera Ann (Bartee) Jones. He married Edwina Pickrell in Dennison August 1, 1942; she survives. He was a retired Dallas sheriff, a member of Tira United Methodist Church and a 32nd degree Mason. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a graduate of the F.B.I. Academy.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Kathy Mitchell of Crandall and Frances Witt and husband, Tom, of Kyle; two sons, Bill Jones and wife, Robin, of White Oak and Paul Jones and wife, Melody, of Sulphur Springs and grandchildren, Rusty and Barbara Story , Brian and Sharon Story, Amber Johnson, Melissa Hicks, Michelle Jones, Becky and Scott Lee, Mescha Hampton, Raegan and Kevin Malandruccolo, T. J. and Kelly Witt, Kristen and Caleb Lewis and Kolton Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents.
