Cleveland Edgar Williams, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, went home to be with the Lord on August 6, 2025 at the age of 88. Cleveland was born on July 15, 1937 in Meridian, Mississippi to Clarence Edgard and Helen (Love) Williams. He married Carolyn Faye Young on June 21, 1957.

A man of deep faith, unwavering love, and a quick wit, Cleve lived a life that touched countless hearts and left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Cleve served as a Deacon at Independence Baptist Church for many years, where he was a pillar of strength, encouragement, and steadfast faith for his church family. His dedication to helping others extended beyond the church walls, as he also served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, giving a voice to children in need and ensuring they were seen, heard, and valued.

Cleve spent his professional career as a gas refinery supervisor, where his leadership, hard work, and integrity earned him the respect of his colleagues.

Outside of his service and work, Cleve was an avid outdoorsman’s who loved golf, hunting, target shooting, fishing and caring for his farm. A place where he found peace and purpose.

In recent years, Cleve especially treasured his mornings spent having breakfast with friends at Redbarn Cafe — because, according to Cleve, it’s the best restaurant in Sulphur Springs. These gatherings of fellowship, stories, and laughter became part of the fabric of his later years.

Above all, Cleve was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 60 years, with an unwavering commitment to providing for his family. He will be remembered for his crooked smile, strong hands, and giving heart.

Cleve’s legacy is one of faith, family, service, and love. Though he will be deeply missed, his life will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know him.

Cleve is survived by his son, Buddy Williams; daughter-in-law, Tracy Williams; daughters, Carla Gremillion, Cathy Jarnigan, and Carol Ann Lester; grandchildren, Jon Blake Kesler, Jesirae Kesler, Shelby Kesler, Avery Gremillion, Julie McNeal (husband Ben), Jacob McNeal, Rachael McNeal, Kennedy McNeal, Angie Lofton (husband Shane), Shae Sheffield, and Cody Lester; great-grandchildren, Braddock Quincy Lofton, Ellie Mae Lofton, Skyler Sheffield, Foster Mack Sheffield, Baillee Sheffield, and Ryker Sheffield; great-great grandchild, Oliver Ramos; and sister, Kay Ellen Williams.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Faye Williams; parents, Clarence E. and Helen Williams; and son-in-law, Lance Lester.
