David Bennett

Graveside service for David Bennett, age 85, of Como, Texas will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Sulphur Springs, Texas with Damon Wilks officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Bennett passed away at Carriage House Manor on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

Homer David Bennett was born on September 2, 1938 in Dierks, Arkansas to Rupert and Minnie (Stewart) Bennett. He married Joyce Hickman in Arizona on March 21, 1959. David served in the U.S. Army. He was a self-employed contractor for over 50 years and was a Sulphur Springs Police volunteer.   

David was survived by his son, David Bennett and his wife Sharon of Como, Texas; daughter, Karen Qualls of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Autumn Bennett, Ashley Mowat, Austin Darby, Ginger Berry, David Berry, and Max Hall; great-grandchildren, Maddix Garvin, Jentri Mowat, Xander Mowat, Dallas Darby, Allie Darby, and Michael Hall.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Bennett; parents, Rupert and Minnie Bennett; brothers, Dale Bennett and Al Bennett; sisters, Iona Jones, Rey Williams, Betty Riedel, and Wanda Gee; grandson, Addison Bennett; granddaughter, Chloe Hall; niece, Linda Brake.
