David Horn, age 74, passed away peacefully at his home in Sulphur Springs, Texas on June 21, 2025. A memorial service honoring his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Danny Sickles officiating. His ashes will go to their final resting place at a later date.
David was born February 22, 1951, in Dallas, Texas, to Elmer (Mutt) Horn and Rosemary (Flippin) Horn. He was a 1969 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School, and he studied agriculture at East Texas State University, now Texas A&M-Commerce. He began his career as a dairy farmer in Hopkins County but eventually held a variety of jobs. He was truly a jack-of-all-trades. He worked primarily as a delivery truck driver, but he was also a carpenter and appliance repairman, skills he mostly employed for the benefit of his family, but which also proved to be useful when he and his wife Ann operated a second hand store. He was also an active seller on eBay.
David and Ruth Ann Webb were married March 25, 1993 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Ann survives her husband. Other survivors include his beloved daughter, Kelly Scott of Sulphur Springs; sister, Glenda Zumwalt of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; two granddaughters, one grandson, three great grandsons, two great granddaughters, two nephews, and several cousins.
David had a deep and abiding love for his family and for Nelta, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Nelta Cemetery Association.
