David Nix

Funeral service for David Nix, age 56, of Yantis, Texas, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Buddy Wiggins officiating. Interment will follow at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Nix passed away at Medical City Dallas Hospital on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

David Nix was born on November 9, 1969, in Henrietta, Texas, to James Richard and Wanda (Herron) Nix. David spent much of his life working hard and providing for his family. Following in his father's footsteps, he worked as a railroad train conductor and also dedicated years of service in the coal mines and at a power plant. He was a skilled handyman who could fix just about anything and was known for being mechanically inclined. In his free time, David enjoyed hunting and fishing and could often be found watching baseball and basketball on television. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his family, who meant the world to him. David will be remembered for his selfless nature, generous heart, and willingness to help anyone in need.

David is survived by the mother of his children, Kim Baugh Nix of Sulphur Springs, Texas; son, Cody Nix and wife Stephanie of Mount Vernon, Texas; daughter, Savannah Lindsay and husband Austin of Corpus Christi, Texas; granddaughter, Lainey Nix; brother, James Nix and wife Beverly of Yantis, Texas; parents, James Richard and Wanda Nix of Yantis, Texas; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his nephew, Dylan Nix; and grandparents, Euthel and Lorraine Herron; Richard and Tommie Nix.
