DeWayne Manns was born on December 29, 1946 in Puncheon Creek, in Magoffin County, Kentucky and was raised in Akron, Indiana. He married Janet Ann Strevy in Akron, Indiana on November 7, 1965. They had two children, Nikki, 53, of Dallas, Texas and Troy, 58, of San Leon, Texas. He later married Carolyn Coker of Yantis, Texas on December 23, 1991 at the home of DeWayne’s parents in Akron, Indiana. DeWayne was a dairyman, farmer, carpenter, master homebuilder, and an avid reader of westerns and military history.

A devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He worked with and enjoyed a host of family, friends and acquaintances from northern Indiana, eastern Kentucky, the DFW area, and his home of choice in Yantis.

A hard, physical worker his entire life, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on the farm with his livestock, and creating with his favorite elements: wood, a tape measure and a hammer. He was also quite fond of a good poker game with friends and family.

DeWayne is survived by his wife, Carolyn; children, Troy, Nikki, Rena and Callie; sisters, Diane and Deloris; grandchildren, Connor, Ian, Peyton, Morgan, Baylee, Langston, and Emma; and a multitude of great-grandchildren, cousins, and nieces and nephews in Indiana, Kentucky, Texas and Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bradie and Oma and brother, Dwight of Akron, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the dementia research foundation of your choice.

We are humbled that so many, from so many places, have fond memories and love for Dad.
