Donald was born on February 22, 1930 in Greenview, Texas to Avery Earnest and Lela May (Rosinbaum) Hammond. He married Wynell Camp on August 13, 1948 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. He worked as a steel worker for Armco in Houston. Donald loved music. He played in the band at church and would write songs. Donald was a member of the Chapel Hill Baptist Church.

 

He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Sherry Hammond; granddaughters, Jennifer Kelton and Dani Goodgine; great grandchildren, Michael Mercer, Beau Goodgine, Joy Goodgine and Hope Goodgine.

 

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wynell; son, Danny Charles Hammond and brothers, Charles Hammond, Harace Hammond and Raymond Hammond.
