Dortheal Speed

Graveside service for Dortheal Speed will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at Peerless Cemetery with Josh Moyer officiating and Brent Johnson, Daniel Nordin, Jimmy Vaughn, Bryan Patterson, Mason Scott, and Chip Vaughn serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs.

Dortheal Willis Denny Speed, age 96, of Sulphur Springs, Texas passed away Monday, July 21, 2025 at Christus Mother Frances Hospital. Dortheal was born on November 8, 1928 in the Addrain Community to Jerry and Jeanette (Vaughn) Willis. She married JC Denny on July 3, 1950 in Texarkana, Texas. Dortheal was a homemaker and a member of the League Street Church of Christ.

Dortheal is survived by her daughter, Nancy McCarty (Mitchel) and son, Ronald Denny (Mary) all of Sulphur Springs; six grandchildren, Brent Johnson, Kristi Tyler, Kelly Patterson, Tamara Sims, Karen Flanery, and Lance McCarty. Nine great-grandchildren, Daniel Nordin, Megan Nordin, Gavin Johnson, Gracie Johnson, Kayla Tyndell, Kinley Griffin, Bryson Sims, Raven Sims, and Mason Scott. Nine great-great grandchildren, Storie, Pyper & Allister Tyndell, Elliott & Oliver Griffin, Lennon Scott, Jaxton Ibarra, and Bentley & Tyler Price.

Dortheal was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, and a sister.
