Eldorse Mathews

Funeral services for El Dorse Mathews,age 79 of Arlington, formerly of Yantis, will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2011, with Brother Arlis Banks officiating. Interment will follow at Yantis Cemetery, with Colin Mayo, Robert Chapa, Justin Myers, Marc Stephenson, Jon Stephenson, Dominick Stephenson and Matthew Stephenson serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (9:30 a.m.)
El Dorse Mathews passed away Friday morning, July 1, 2011 at Arlington Memorial Hospital Hospice. She was born in Wood County on May 15, 1932, the daughter of Clayton Jewette Graham and Bertie (Warren) Graham. She married Charles Dwain Mathews in Dallas on February 17, 1956; he preceded her in death in 1983. She was a homemaker and manager of a credit union. She was a member of White Oak Baptist Church.
Survivors include: daughter, Michelle Schafer and husband Bubba of Arlington; son, Michael Mathews; twin sister, El Darris Stephens, both of Yantis; four grandchildren, Kara Lisette Duncan, Charles Allen Mathews, Lauren Mayo and Andrea Schulze; six great-grandchildren, Regan, Nolan, Lane, Lola, Dylan and Rylee and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son and brother, Andy Arris Graham.
