Elizabeth Spencer

Funeral Service for Elizabeth Spencer, age 79, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with Rev. Garry Jordan officiating. Private family interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00p.m. Monday, January 18, 2021 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mrs. Spencer passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab.

Elizabeth Spencer was born December 18, 1941 in Petal, MS to Victor Yelverton and Beulah (Boykin) Yelverton. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from East Texas State University and spent over 20 years as an elementary school teacher at Como-Pickton. She loved her students and especially her son, grandson, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Spencer is survived by her grandson, Ty Spencer and her great-grandchildren, Keeley and Hunter Spencer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Chuck Spencer; and brother, Horace Yelverton, who was killed in action during WWII.
