Elizabeth Ann Wilburn, 78, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at her lifelong residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with C.J. Duffy and Zack Ross officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Old Saltillo Cemetery. Pallbearers are Adam Wilburn, Raymond Wilburn, Chris Wilburn, Stetson Mullins, Gordon Frazier, and Billy Phillips. Honorary pallbearer is Bobby Carey.
Elizabeth was born on November 25, 1947, in Sulphur Springs to the late T.C. Phillips and Etta Mae (Price) Willey. On June 16, 1967, she married the love of her life, Steve Wilburn. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, and devotion to one another. Their marriage spanned more than five decades until Steve preceded her in death on December 13, 2022.
After her children were grown, Elizabeth worked for several years at Winn-Dixie and later managed an antique store in downtown Sulphur Springs. She was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church and enjoyed participating in activities at the Senior Citizens Center for many years. During that time, she also proudly participated in the Ms. Hopkins County Senior Classic Pageant on multiple occasions, something she greatly enjoyed. She remained active in these community activities until her health no longer allowed her to attend.
Elizabeth’s greatest joy in life was her family, and she cherished the time she spent with those she loved most. Those who knew her best remember her as someone who loved the Lord deeply and lived out her faith each day. She was a devoted prayer warrior with a true servant’s heart, always willing to help anyone in need. Elizabeth loved to talk and never met a stranger, often welcoming others with warmth, humor, and open conversation. She was a safe place for so many—a keeper of stories, memories, and the little details of life—and her presence brought comfort, laughter, and encouragement to all who knew her.
Elizabeth is survived by her son, Danny Wilburn and wife Amanda; daughter, Tammy Wilburn; grandson, Colton Morrow and wife Kim; great-grandchildren, Harlyn Elizabeth Morrow, Stetson Mullins, and Chelby Mullins; brother, Tommy Phillips and wife Rhonda; sister, Brenda Carey and husband Bobby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Steve Wilburn.
Memorials may be made to the Sulphur Springs Senior Citizens Center, 301 Oak Avenue, Sulphur Springs, Texas 75482.
