Funeral services for Emma Lee Chapman, 86, of Sulphur Springs are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday, October 24, in Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Perry Johnson and John Odom officiating.
Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park with Brian Odom, John Odom, Kevin Wright, Toby Armstrong, Todd Perkins, Jerry Radney and Eddie Schumpert serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Mike Webb, Mike Sheedy, Steve Sheedy, Mitzi Welch, Rodney Harred, Cole Newsom, Sandy Rolfe, Butch Young and all other nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, October 23, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Chapman died at 8:02 a.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. She was born in Winfield, Kansas on June 29, 1926, to A. K. and Bertie Phillips Turner. After a short courtship, she married Ennis ‘Ray' Chapman in Cooper, Texas on October 2, 1945. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2004, after more than 58 years of marriage.
Mrs. Chapman attended business college and was employed by H.D. Lee Company and Masters True Value for many years before retirement, although her life's work was to tirelessly demonstrate the love of Christ to her husband, daughters, family, friends and all who knew her.
Mrs. Chapman is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Gary Odom, Debbie and Roger Berry, and Brenda Wright, all of Sulphur Springs; three brothers, Jim Turner of Abilene, Texas; Johnny Bob Turner of Haskell, Texas; and Bill Turner of Ropesville, Texas; one sister, Mary Jo Stoker of Burleson, Texas; eight grandchildren, Julie Perkins, Brian Odom, Gayle Schumpert, John Odom, Erica Armstrong, Kevin Wright, Kayce Wright and Beverly Radney; and twenty-one great-grandchildren, Drew Hanna, Riley Shepard, Jack Perkins, Seth Shepard, Gage Shepard, Abby Perkins, Benjamin Perkins, Sarah Odom, Jordan Odom, Tyler Armstrong, Jake Armstrong, Chandler Armstrong, Jonah Schumpert, Dylan Odom, Pacye Odom, GreenLee Odom, Aimee Radney, Justin Radney, Tavin Wright, McKenna Wright and Rhett Newsom.
Mrs. Chapman was also preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Ann Chapman; three brothers, A.K. Turner, Jr., Dennie Turner, and George Turner; and four sisters, Dorothy Young, Norma Grant, Bernice Carter, and Sue Sheedy.
