A graveside service for Eva Ruth Bennett Smith, age 96, of Tyler, will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 1, 2010 at North Hopkins Cemetery, with Chaplain Victor (Vic) Taylor officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Eva Ruth Bennett Smith passed away at Chandler Nursing Center in Chandler, Monday, April 26, 2010. She was born in Birthright on October 25, 1913, the daughter of Charles Bennett and Edna (Martin) Bennett. She married Nevil D. Smith in Birthright on January 21, 1933. He preceded her in death in 1990. Mrs. Smith was a retired sales associate for Sanger Harris. She was of the Methodist faith and a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
Survivors include: daughter, Pat Taylor and husband, Jerry, of Tyler; grandchildren, Sharon and Bill Alderdice, Stan and Anne Taylor and Col. Stephen and Lisa Taylor and six great-grandchildren.
