A funeral service for Evelyn Hershey, age 79, of Yantis, will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, with Jim Thompson and Buddy Wiggins officiating. Interment will follow at Seymore Cemetery, with Jeff Bernight, James McWilliams, Bill Bomar, Travis Aven, Chuck Lawrence and James Samuelson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Fred Fisher. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Evelyn Hershey passed away Saturday evening, October 20, 2012, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. She was born in Greenville on November 11, 1932, the daughter of Everett Eugene Seymore and Nina Noreen "Nancy" (Newton) Seymore. She married Sammy Ray Hershey in Lubbock on August 11, 1951; he survives. She was a homemaker and a member of League Street Church of Christ.
Other survivors include: son, Lowry Hershey and wife, Brenda of Amarillo; three daughters, Rhealyn Samuelson and husband, Gary, of Denton; Holly Phillips of Granite Shoals and Sandra Bernight and husband, Jeff, of Brashear; grandchildren, Declan Hershey, Rachelyn Hershey, Ethan Hershey, Eoin Hershey, Lindley Glover and Jim, Jessica Flores and Les, Karyn Samuelson, Rachel Samuelson, Esther Samuelson, Lydia Samuelson, James Samuelson and Deborah Samuelson, Roxanne Phillips, Rebecca Solorzano and Albert and Nicholas Reeves; great-grandchildren, Lexi, John Kaylee, Hailie, Landon and Gavin. She was preceded in death by grandson, Micheal Hershey. Memorials may be made to League Street Church of Christ "Special Missions."
