Frances L Hooker

Funeral services for Mrs. Frances L. Hooker, age 79, of Yantis, will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Newby and Bro. Danny Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Yantis Cemetery with Amos Hooker, Evan Hooker, Bryan Sells, Daryl Watkins, Mark Friddle, and Wesley Winstead serving as pallbearers, with honorary pallbearers, Lonnie Petty and Ronnie Temples.

Frances passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at her home in Yantis with her family at her side. She was born on Monday, December 16, 1946, in Dallas to the late Johnnie and Lila Sue (Bird) Traughber. She married the late Jerry Hooker on May 14, 1966, in Dallas. Frances worked in drafting for H.D. Lee’s for 16 years, and later at Oceanspray for 19 years until retirement. She loved to crochet and spend time with her family. Frances loved people and never met a stranger.

She is survived by her son, Jesse Hooker and wife Amber of Yantis; daughter, Rita Bevill and husband Kemmy of Yantis; sister, Alice Row and husband George of Kaufman; brother, Robert Traughber and wife Rita of Dawson; grandchildren, Maggie Janssen and husband Austin of Amarillo, Maddie Gibson and husband Ricky of Amarillo; Marshall Hooker of Yantis; numerous nieces and nephews, and her little dog Lucy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 54 years, Jerry Hooker; sister, Gayle Bus; brother, Johnnie Traughber, Jr.
