Galo Hernandez

Funeral service for Galo Hernandez, age 84, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Father Victor Hernandez officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a Rosary service at 6:00 P.M Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Hernandez passed away at Rock Creek Health & Rehabilitation on Sunday, May 23, 2026.

Galo Hernandez was born on May 31, 1941, in Las Cruces, Cuba, to the late Valentino Castillo. He married Ciriaca (Gonzalez) Hernandez in Cuba in April of 1960. Galo worked at the National Aquarium in Havana, Cuba, before moving to the United States in 1970. After arriving in the U.S., he opened and operated a grocery store for many years before retiring. Later in life, he continued working at a warehouse and at Walmart, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church.

Galo is survived by his son, Humberto Gonzalez Hernandez, of Sulphur Springs, Texas.
