Funeral services for Gerald Wayne Fielden, age76, of Dike , will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 30, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, with John Pangle and Michael Sellers officiating. A military graveside service, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, will follow at Sulphur Bluff Cemetery, with Ricky Vicks, Gary McKennon, nephews, Fred Fielden, Richard Fielden and grandsons, Jody Sheffield, Justin Sheffield and Jeremy Wesson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the breakfast friends at the Red Barn Café. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 29, at the funeral home.
Gerald Wayne Fielden passed away at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, Monday morning, September 27, 2010. He was born December 12, 1933 in Sulphur Springs, the son of Fred Gordon Fielden and Myrtle Shaddix Fielden. He married Mamie Ivey October 8, 1959. She preceded him in death. He married Sandy Lawrence October 4, 1981. Mr. Fielden was a retired carpet layer of 37 years. He was a farmer and he was in the produce and wood business. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include: one son, Gerald Wayne Fielden, Jr. and wife, Meagan, of Sulphur Springs; three daughters, Sherry Sheffield and husband, Billy, of Cash, Laura Wesson and husband, Donald of Gainesville, Amy Brown and husband, Jarred, of Sulphur Springs, one brother, Bruce Fielden of Sulphur Bluff; seven grandchildren, Jody and Justin Sheffield, Jeremy and Shanna Wesson, Brayden Brown, Miley and Gerald Wayne Fielden, III; five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Emilee, Maddison and Mackinzie Wesson and Eli Sheffield and special family, Michael and Sandy Sellers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Mamie, a brother, Ben Fielden; sister, Mary Alice Henderson and her husband, Don. Memorials may be made to the Sulphur Bluff Cemetery Association.
