Gerald Mack Pinkham was born May 5, 1938, near Malta, a small community in Bowie County, Texas. Gerald passed away peacefully at his home in Sulphur Springs, Texas, on July 10, 2026, with his daughters at his side. Gerald was the fourth of seven children born to Hazel Ione Reed Pinkham and Stanley D. Pinkham. Gerald attended Clarksville High School, where he was a member of the FFA, the Junior Rotary Club, and was voted “Most Handsome Boy.” He graduated from DeKalb High School in 1957. In January 1958, Gerald married Myrna Loy Lynn. Gerald and Myrna settled in Mesquite, Texas, where they raised their three daughters. Gerald retired from Emery Air Freight (later known as Emery Worldwide) in 2000 with over 25 years of service. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 745 in Dallas. During his career, he served as a union representative, and was a passionate advocate for higher wages, retirement packages, and comprehensive healthcare benefits. After retirement, Gerald and Myrna moved to Sulphur Springs, Texas. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed working in town delivering flowers for a local florist, and spending time on his property in Cumby, affectionately known as “the farm” by his family. Gerald had a wealth of friends and was surrounded by community spirit everywhere he went. His family wishes to extend deep gratitude to the community for their love, care, concern, and camaraderie given to Gerald over the years. He was loved by so many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Gerald was preceded in death by Myrna Lynn Pinkham, his wife of 56 years; his parents, Ione Reed Pinkham and Stanley D. Pinkham; his brothers, Calvin Pinkham, Bob Pinkham, and Harold Pinkham; and his sisters, Wanda Joy Pinkham Archibald and Laura Jane Pinkham.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Frances Pinkham Hall of Texas; his three beloved daughters, Debra Thacker and husband, Dave, of Arlington, Texas, Sherri Long and husband, Daniel, of Balch Springs, Texas, and Paula Oszman and husband, Michael, of North St. Paul, Minnesota. He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Jill Nelson (Dan), Lindsey Thacker, Ashley Kirby (Justin), Chelsey Long, Dustin Long (Jessica), and Cassandra Pinkham; and his great-grandchildren: Christopher Heim, Halley Gochnour, Jay Jamison, Caleb McGrath, Allison McGrath, Connor McGrath, Erin McGrath, Olivia Washburn, Avani Boxer, and Micah Kirby. Gerald was also blessed with numerous nieces and nephews and leaves behind countless friends who all held a special place in his heart.
As family and friends gather to honor Gerald's life, they will remember a man whose steady presence, kind heart, and strong work ethic touched everyone around him. His love for his family, his devotion to Myrna, and his pride in his daughters, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren remain a lasting example of the life he lived so faithfully. Though he is no longer here in body, the memories he leaves behind will continue to bring comfort, laughter, and strength to those who knew him best. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the friends he valued, and the community that held him close for so many years.
