A graveside service for James R. Morgan, age 77, of Sulphur Springs, will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Restlawn Memorial Park, with Rev. Joel Tiemeyer officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
James R. Morgan passed away Tuesday morning, April 13, 2010, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital . He was born in Sulphur Springs, on April 24, 1932, the son of Royce Neal Morgan and Virgie Ruth (Crump) Morgan. Mr. Morgan was a retired maintenance worker for Van I.S.D. and a member of the Baptist faith. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include: daughter, Melissa Woodard and husband, Gerald; son, David Morgan and wife, Donita, all of Sulphur Springs; sister, Margaret Loose of Van; three brothers, Leroy Neal Morgan of Little Rock, Arkansas, Arlon Morgan of Sulphur Springs and Miller D. Morgan of Pickton; grandchildren, Justin Jumper, Amanda Baxter, Gerad Woodard, Scooter Woodard, Haley Morgan, Kayla Morgan and Cody Morgan; great-grandchildren, Jalen Jumper, Austin Baxter, Braydan Woodard and Brody Woodard. He was preceded in death by wife, Ethel Faye Baty Morgan, two brothers, Rayburn Morgan and Bob Morgan.
