Graveside service for Janet (Littlefield) Basham, age 69, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, TX in the outdoor chapel with Bro. Glynn Tyson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mrs. Basham passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024, in Dallas, TX.
Janet was born on May 27, 1954 in Sulphur Springs, TX to Billy Lloyd and Jo (Sims) Littlefield. She married Chris Norman Basham in Commerce, TX on August 18, 1972, and they were blessed with thirty years of marriage before his passing in 2002. After high school, Janet obtained her undergraduate degree in Science from East Texas State University in Commerce, TX. She went on to graduate with a Masters of Education and worked as a school teacher in the Pre-K and Head Start programs at Sherman ISD for 27 years.
She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Dudley and husband Brandon of Fort Worth, TX, Christy Plumlee and husband Michael of Commerce, TX; mother, Jo Littlefield Thompson of Sulphur Springs, TX; grandchildren, Christian Plumlee, Jonathan Plumlee, Caden Dudley, Beckett Dudley; sister, Billie Stone and husband Scott of Denton, TX; nieces and nephews, Madison Stone, Noah Stone, Nathan Stone and Mason Stone. Janet is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and students.
She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Lloyd Littlefield; husband, Chris Norman Bassham; and sister, Janae Littlefield.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Faith Presbyterian Hospice Caring Fund, 12477 Merit Drive, Dallas, TX 75251.
