Janet Elaine Newby was born on December 17, 1960 at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas to her parents Robert Phil Newby and Verna Mae Hooker Newby. She attended elementary school in Yantis, Tx as well as Sulphur Springs where she graduated in 1979. She grew up her whole life on a dairy farm and found her true love as a “country girl.” As a teenager she could: rake hay better than most men while donning a pair of shorts, tank-top and ball cap. Jarring garden vegetables grown on the home-place and making jelly and homemade buttermilk biscuits became second nature to Janet. This lifestyle folded deeply into her DNA and never left her. She married Mickey Perritt and had 2 daughters: Rebel Michelle and Bobbi Lee Perritt. Janet eventually left the country lifestyle after becoming an RN and chose the challenging task of becoming an ER nurse in the “big city.” She quickly was promoted after acquiring her CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) to charge nurse in such notable hospitals as Medical City Plano and Presbyterian Plano Hosp. After a very successful and lengthy career in the Dallas area, she moved as quickly as she could to her beloved Reilly Springs once more where she went right back to growing gardens and cooking and baking for which she was envied by persons such as Paula Dean and Emeril Lagasse. She would welcome you into her kitchen to help out…but you better know what you were doing….which was mainly doing it her way!
Janet is survived by her daughter Rebel Roed and her husband Kevin of Reilly Springs along with her grandchildren: Levi Welch, Gavin Roed, Dusti Roed and Klay Roed. Her second daughter Bobbi Farris and her husband Jonathan of Reilly Springs along with her grandchildren: Hunter and Jaxon Farris. She is also survived by her brother Paul Newby, sister Teresa Strayhorn, and sister Lisa Webb…and seven nieces and nephews.
