Jerry Cone, age 89 of Sulphur Springs, Texas passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
Jerry was born on October 9, 1936 in Enid, Oklahoma to Francis Cone and Martha Kusch Cone. He grew up in Enid and graduated from Enid High School in 1955. As a young man, Jerry loved rodeo, working the circuit as a clown and occasional bull riding, which provided him lots of stories to tell. Jerry had lots of fun working as an extra on the 1977 movie, Semi Tough, which was filmed at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Starting his banking career at Preston State Bank in Dallas in the 60’s, Jerry finally retired in 2015 from City National Bank, in Sulphur Springs. Over the years, Jerry played on many bank softball and bowling teams. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Sulphur Springs as a Master Mason 32nd and was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs. Jerry married Leota Garner on January 27, 1996, and loved spending time with his wife Leota and his grandkids, Will and Zachary Maddux.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 29 years, Leota Cone of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and stepdaughter Donna and husband James Maddux of Dallas, Texas. Additionally, he is survived by his two beloved grandkids, Will Maddux, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Zachary Maddux of College Station, Texas. Jerry is also survived by sister LaDonna Cone Crass and her husband Carrol Crass of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and brother Bob Cone and his wife Betty Cone of McAlester, Oklahoma. Jerry is also survived by numerous cousins and nieces and nephews.
