Listen to Obituary

It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry Mac Richardson, who went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the age of 82. While our hearts grieve his loss and we will miss him deeply, we also rejoice in the assurance that he is now healed and in Heaven.

Jerry is reunited with his parents, Lois and Opal Richardson; his sister, Patsy Bell; his brothers-in-law, Melvin Bell, Jay Brown, Leland Alcorn, and Joseph Mills; his son-in-law, Jorge Rodriguez; and his nephews, Adam Huckabee, Russell Harbison, and Payne Gillespie.

Jerry is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 42 years, Loretta Bing Richardson—his “Heartbeat,” as he so tenderly called her. Their love was a beautiful reflection of love, faith, commitment, and deep companionship.

He is also remembered by his cherished children, Terese Marsland, Heather (Preston) Brown, Dirk (Stacey), Richardson, Keri Rodriguez, Dennis Hill Richardson, and Shannon Richardson; his seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, each carrying forward a piece of his love and legacy.

Jerry is further survived by his wonderful sisters, Barbara (Mr. Tox) Brown and Mary Alcorn, along with many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by his kindness, warmth, and unwavering faith.

Jerry loved the Lord and began serving God at the age of five, a faith that guided his life from that day forward. He proudly served his country in the Air Force as a veteran of the Vietnam War. Jerry loved spending time fishing. He enjoyed the quiet peace of the water and the excitement of a good catch. Just as much, he valued being a “fisher of men,” sharing his faith and pointing others toward Christ through his words, his example, and his love for people. He truly never met a stranger. With his warm spirit, quick smile, and generous heart, he made friends everywhere he went.

He especially had a deep appreciation for those who serve their communities. Jerry often delighted in quietly picking up the restaurant tab for police officers and firefighters whenever he had the chance.

In honor of Jerry’s generous spirit, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, you do something kind for someone you do not know — or bless a police officer, firefighter, or other first responder in some small way, just as he loved to do.

Graveside service with military honors for Jerry Richardson, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Restlawn Memorial Park.

Jerry held firmly to the promise found in Scripture: “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”

2 Corinthians 5:8. His family finds great comfort in knowing he is now in the presence of the Savior he loved and served throughout his life.

“Well done, good and faithful servant. “
