Jimmy Sims

Funeral service for Jimmy Wayne Sims, age 72, of Cumby will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jim Moore officiating and Tony McCoy assisting.   Interment will follow at Mt. Zion with Mark Sims, Marvin Joe Sims, Wayne Bledsoe, Scott Stone, Greg Walters and Gary Hamm serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Dean Mobley, Jeff Sims, Donald Sims, Ronald Sims, Shawn Sims, Jeff Bledsoe, J.C. Petry and Dan Hunt.  Visitation will be held Friday evening, September 13, 2019 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Sims passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at his residence.

Jimmy was born on February 17, 1947 in Hopkins County to Marvin and Thelma (Fouse) Sims.  He married Minette Bagley on November 9, 1995 in Hugo, OK.  Jimmy retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after 35 years of service as an equipment operator.  He was a Deacon at Cornerstone Baptist Church and very active in the church.  Jimmy had a passion for tractor restoration.

He is survived by his wife, Minette; children, Sherrie Ann McCoy and husband, Tony of Whitehouse, Shelia Kay Sims of Sulphur Springs, Brian Wayne Sims and wife, Stephanie of LaRue, Haley Warren and husband, Bucky of Tyler, Kristi Olson of Lansing, MI, Amy Moffatt and husband, Jared of Van, Deana Webb of Denison; grandchildren, Wendie Turner and husband, Daniel, Andie McCoy, Isabella Warren,  Hope Warren, Joey Warren, Abby Brummett; great grandson, Cade Turner; sisters, Jo Littlefield Thompson, Joyce Bledsoe and husband, Wayne; brothers, Kenneth Sims and wife, Sue, Joseph Sims and wife, Vickie; numerous nieces and nephews.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and former wife, Jan.
