A funeral service for Joe Neil (Bottles) Moore, age 81 of Como will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 21, 2013, with Brother Mark Bryant and Brother B. J. Teer officiating. Interment will follow at Como Cemetery, with Chad Moore, Robert Stout, David Roeber, Taylor Moore, Grady McElyea and David Carpenter serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Joe Neil (Bottles) Moore passed away Monday, February 18, 2013 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Winnsboro on August 27, 1931, the son of Tilford Silas Moore and Opal (Evans) Moore. He married Ruby Carpenter in Como on October 22, 1955; she survives. He worked for the Federal Pacific Electric Company for 32 years. He was a chief petty officer in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He pitched for the Winnsboro Oilers and he served as water commissioner for the City of Como for six years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs.
Other survivors include: daughter, Lisa Simmons of Como; son, Terry Moore and wife Patti of Mesquite; grandchildren, Taylor William Moore and Chad Clayton Moore, Kristen Renee Nutt and Kasey Lane Simmons and great-grandchildren, J. J. Nutt, Kenlee Simmons and Karlee Simmons. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, LaVerne Crouch. Memorials may be made to The Rock Building Fund % First Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs and/or the American Diabetes Association.
