Joe Woods

Funeral services for Joe Lewis Woods, age 94, of Miller Grove, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at the Miller Grove United Methodist Church. Rev. Howard Strickland will officiate.

Burial will follow services at 4:30 p.m., at the Athens City Cemetery, in Athens.

No formal visitation is planned.

Mr. Woods passed away Monday morning, August 3, 2009 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 6, 1915, the son of Ben and Sally Stewart Woods. He married Emma Pearl Renshaw. She survives.

Mr. Woods was a retired electrician with Raytheon. He served in the National Guard and was a 32nd Degree Mason.

Other survivors include: daughters, Jo Ella Robinson of Ft. Worth, and Reda Lee Spence of Malakoff; grandchildren, Jan Joplin, Scott Sprayberry, Christi Dunklin, Bubba Matthews, and Jana DeSilva; great grandchildren, Amanda Dunavant, Kenneth Sprayberry, Amber Fisch, and Jackson Woodside; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Woods and Carlton Woods; and one grandson, James Duffer.
