Mr. Logsdon passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.

John was born on January 26, 1935 in Sulphur Bluff to Terance Bodie 'T.B' Logsdon and Mozelle Beckham Logsdon. After graduating high school, he attended college at the University of Houston and Texas Tech University, where he met and married Diane Doss on August 30, 1958.

John served his country as an officer in the U.S. Army and the National Guard after college and went on to farm in the Texas Panhandle between Tulia and Kress. He later moved the family to Houston where he worked for General Motors in their insurance division for a number of years. He left the security of a corporate job to start Gateway Motor Company in Beaumont. After a long and successful run there, he partnered with his "extra son", Scott Monroe in commercial real estate development. This took John and Diane to Colorado Springs, CO to oversee an early project and back to the Houston area for many more. These were complex, multi-million dollar investments and provided many challenges for them over the years, resulting in remarkable successes.

John was an accomplished private pilot and owned several airplanes. He also enjoyed sailing with Diane on their own sailboat. He loved any kind of mechanized vehicle and said there wasn't anything with wheels or tracks he couldn't drive.

At one point, it became important for both John and Diane to be nearer their grandchildren and they wanted a peaceful place in the country to settle down again. They moved just outside of Canton to start another car dealership, Pleasantview, alongside highway 19 in front of their beautiful home.

John was a strong but kind and thoughtful man who loved - and was very much loved by - his family and friends. He always thought about how he could make his and Diane's home a welcoming and fun place for all who visited - young and old. John took a lot of pride in the picturesque piece of land where they lived and couldn't believe his good fortune in the blessings he and Diane enjoyed for so long. Especially being present to share in the lives of their children and grandchildren, of whom they are so proud.

When the time came to make an end-of-life decision, he was very much in control and at peace. He passed comfortably, surrounded by his family and their gentle voices and the music he loved. He was especially comforted by the presence of the lady he so loved and adored and they held hands to the end.

John is survived by his wife, Diane Logsdon; children Dan Logsdon and wife Patricia, Lori Kelso and husband Dan, Greg Logsdon and wife Ana Maria, Rick Logsdon and wife Aaron; grandchildren, Thomas John 'T.J' Walton, Drake Logsdon, Pedro John 'P.J.' Logsdon, Matt Logsdon, Hailey Logsdon, Ryan Logsdon and Chris Logsdon; brother Terance Logsdon; sisters Labritta Sue Gilbert and Lucy Lucky. John is

also survived by his sister-in-law, Pam Logsdon, Mike Logsdon's wife.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mike Logsdon.
