Joseph Matkowski

A military graveside service, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, for Joseph Matkowski, age 92, of Mesquite, will be conducted at Greenpond Cemetery, at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2012, with Brother Michael Coker officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
Joseph Matkowski passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Heritage Place in Mesquite. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on October 3, 1919, the son of Andrew Matkowski and Katherine (Yaworski ). He was married to Ruth Coker at Sulphur Springs who preceded him in death in 1973. He was a boiler maker and he was of the Catholic faith. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include: daughter, Pam Smith of Mesquite; two brothers, Kenneth Matkowski and Joseph R. Matkowski; two sisters, Doris Dougherty and Pauline Steinmeyer and three grandchildren.
