Joyce Goldsmith

Funeral service for Joyce Goldsmith, age 84, of Birthright, Texas, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Bro. Donnie Powers officiating. Interment will follow at North Hopkins Cemetery with Amanda Edmonson, Justin Goldsmith, Jaden Goldsmith, Mike Gibby, Jimmy Groves, Jerry Brandenburgh, Kurt Groves, and Kyle Groves serving as pallbearers and Jerry Don Gibby serving as honorary pallbearer. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Goldsmith peacefully passed away at her residence on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

Joyce Goldsmith was born on December 9, 1941, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to the late Carl Clifton and Ida Belle (Rogers) Groves. She married the late Jimmy Goldsmith in Sulphur Springs, Texas, on August 14, 1959. Joyce spent much of her life as a dedicated cattle rancher before beginning a second career as the supervisor of the Children's Learning Center at Texas A&M University of Commerce. She took great pride in caring for and supporting young children and their families through her work. Joyce was also a faithful member of Birthright United Methodist Church, where her faith and church community were an important part of her life.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Debbie Davis of Birthright, Texas; son, Terry Goldsmith and wife Gina of Sulphur Bluff, Texas; grandchildren, Amanda Edmonson, Ashley Edmonson, Jamie McIntosh and husband Chris, Justin Goldsmith and wife Skylar, Jaden Goldsmith and wife Morgan; great-grandchildren, Emmett, Noah, and Murphy McIntosh, Maeve Goldsmith; and brother, Ken Groves.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Clifton Groves and James Groves.
