Funeral service for Kathleen Tatum, age 90, of Ben Franklin, TX will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Hilgenfeld Funeral Home, Anaheim CA. Interment to follow at 2:00 P.M. at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA. Mrs. Tatum passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 in Sulphur Springs, TX.

Kathleen Pearl Tatum was born on September 28, 1927 in Amarillo, Texas, the daughter of Robert Cloyd and Flossie Lovina (Guest) Bone. She started school in a one room log house near Pie Town, NM, that her father helped build. She walked 2 miles to school from their homestead with some older girls. She married Marion Baxter Tatum, Jr. on November 10, 1946 in Tucumcari, NM. Kathleen worked as a dispatcher for the Tucumcari, NM Police Department and later as Office Manager for Marion Tatum Detective Bureau in Anaheim, Calif. She was a longtime resident of Anaheim, California, moving there in 1955. She loved the California weather and lived in the same house until 2013 when her health forced her to move to Texas. Kathleen was very active in the community and belonged to several charity organizations. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of Scepter Chapter 163 Order of the Eastern Star. Kathleen was also active in Boy Scouts of America for over 20 years and a Cub Scout Den Mother for 7 years. In the 70’s, loud colored striped T-shirts became a big fad. She thought they were too expensive, so she bought material and sewed shirts for her sons, their friends and most of the boys in the neighborhood. Although Kathleen was a newcomer to Sulphur Springs, her family settled here in early 1800’s. Her great great grandfather William Bone and many other relatives are buried in Bone-Proctor and Miller Grove Cemeteries, Miller Grove, TX.

She is survived by her 4 sons, Baxter Tatum of Ben Franklin, TX; Benton Tatum of Walnut Grove, California, Curtis Tatum of Rio Dell, California; Craig Tatum of Lake Forest, California. Sixteen grandchildren, Cloyd Tatum, Daniel Tatum, Matthew Tatum, Scott Tatum, Benjamin Tatum, Zachary Tatum, Joshua Tatum, Floyd Tatum, Kevin Tatum, Brian Tatum, Sydney Tatum, Dayna Tatum, Jesse Sturdevant, Seth Sturdevant, Derek Boyd; 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson; and brother, Darrel Bone of Corrales, NM.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Christopher Tatum; brothers, Leon and Glenn Bone.
