Funeral services for Lauretta Martin, age 74, of Sulphur Springs, will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 6, 2010. Interment will follow at North Hopkins Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 5, 2010, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Lauretta Martin passed away Saturday morning, September 4, 2010, at Carriage House Manor. She was born in Saltillo on March 27, 1936, the daughter of William D. Ashby and Eunice (Ballard) Ashby. She married Billy Jack Martin in Sulphur Springs on March 7, 1953. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Martin was a retired seamstress for H. D. Lee Company. She was a member of Church of Christ.
Survivors include: daughter, Retta Murphy and husband, Dwayne, of Yantis; three sisters, Mary Settle of Clear Lake, Brenda Ashby and Gloria Thomas, both of Sulphur Springs; one brother, Randall Ashby of Baytown; grandchildren, Melissa Darling, Micah Fouse and husband, Josh, Karla Dodd and husband, Jason, and great-grandchildren, Codey and Caden Dodd, Daci Darling, Andi McVay, Kolbie and Lane Fouse. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Ashby and Billy Ashby.
