Funeral service for Leon Higginbotham, age 92, of Cumby, Texas, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Norman Carson officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Campbell, Texas, with Todd Higginbotham, Eric Higginbotham, Zach Emmons, Seth Roberts, Colby Garrett, and Dylan Garrett serving as pallbearers. Dan Hunt, Dean Mason, Franklin Walls, Arlie Bryant, and Randy Walker will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Mr. Higginbotham passed away at his residence on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

Leon was born on October 15, 1933, in Campbell, Texas, to the late Reuben and Vesta (Bowen) Higginbotham. He married Naomi (Smith) Higginbotham in Greenville, Texas, on September 27, 1958. Leon served in the U.S. Army in the 11th and 82nd Airborne Divisions during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Raytheon as a computer maintenance service technician after 42 years of service. Leon was a member of the Lions Club of Cumby, served on the Cumby City Council, the Cumby Telephone Board, and the Housing Authority. He was also a member of the Cumby Volunteer Fire Department. He was a deacon and charter member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, where he also served on the worship team, playing harmonica alongside his daughter, Lou Ann, and grandson, Zach.

He and his wife, Naomi, were active supporters of their kids’ and grandkids’ extra-curricular activities. They also enjoyed traveling, and spending their kids’ inheritance at the casino!

Leon is survived by his wife, Naomi Higginbotham of Cumby; daughter, Lou Ann Price of Cumby; sons, David Higginbotham and wife, Darla of Cumby, and Donald Higginbotham and wife, Lore Dickerson of Commerce; grandchildren, Todd Higginbotham and wife, Brittany; Eric Higginbotham; Colby Garrett and wife, Angela; Cassie Garrett, Kati Glasgow and husband, Jamie; Zach Emmons and wife, Taylor; Karli Roberts and husband, Seth; Shannon Oswalt and husband, Mike; Cole and Chance Price; great-grand-children, Dylan, Landon and Gracie; Mason and Jaylee; Gavin, Tate and Lola; Josie, Jasper and Jesse; Henli and Heston; Zaine, and brother, Claude Higginbotham.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, R. T. and Joe Higginbotham; grandson Wesley Higginbotham; and son-in-law, Morris Price.
