Leta Long

March 23, 1909 — February 7, 2008

Funeral services for Leta Long, age 98, of Sulphur Springs, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 10, 2008, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Bob McCartney and Rev. Fred Lewis will officiate.

Interment will follow services in the Greenview Cemetery, with Craig Long, Chris Carter, Sean Orr, Brian Orr, Bill Bailey, Randy Holloway, and Mike Carter serving as pallbearers. Charles Carter will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, February 9, 2008, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Long passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2008, at Carriage House Manor Nursing Home. She was born in the Bonanza Community of Hopkins County, on March 23, 1909, the daughter of Will and Watta Cutts Stubbs. She married J.T. Long, in Sulphur Springs, on December 16, 1931. He preceded her in death in 1980.

Mrs. Long was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, Barbara "Boots" Carter, and husband Charles, of Brashear, and Peggy Long Smith, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Craig Long, Chris Carter, and Paula Orr; and great-grandchildren, Sean Orr, Danyelle Carter, Heather Lyday, and Cristal Carter.

She was preceded in death by one son, Ray Dean "Steamer" Long; a daughter, Frances Lavon Long; four brothers, Currin Stubbs, J.L. Stubbs, Esee Stubbs, and D.C. Stubbs; and three sisters, Faye Hanes, Vera Clem, and Winona Vaughter.
