A funeral service for Lorene B. Tarrant, age 95, of Campbell, will be conducted at First Baptist Church in Campbell at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 19, 2014, with Rev. Jimmy Tarrant, Rev. Keith Cogburn and Rev. Ron Ethridge officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Land Cemetery in Greenville, with her grandsons, John Powell, Keith Tarrant, Jeff Tarrant, Jerry Denton, Jr. Jason Atherton, Bradley Atherton and Michael Atherton, serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour before the service, (1:00 p.m.)
Lorene B. Tarrant went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday night, February 16, 2014 at Briarcliff Health Center of Greenville. She was born September 26, 1918 in Delta County, Texas, the daughter of F. M. Bacon and Mary (Wilson) Bacon. She married Uyless L. Tarrant in Greenville November 7, 1934. He preceded her in death in 2004. In addition to all her years as a wife, mother and homemaker, Lorene held jobs outside the home, including Henson Kickernick in Greenville for over 30 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Campbell for 65 years, where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years, along with numerous Bible studies. She also served in the WMU, the PTA and was a room mother for each of her six children.
Survivors include: two sons, Ray Tarrant and wife Nancy of Campbell, Jimmy Tarrant and wife Darlene of Greenville; four daughters, Sharlyn Powell Vaughn of Sulphur Springs, Mary Anderwald of Dallas, Rita Denton and husband Jerry of Lone Oak, Barbara Atherton and husband Don of Greenville; 13 grandchildren 30 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Susan Powell Bennett; great-grandson, Chris Bennett; sons-in-law, Tommy Powell, Cecil Anderwald and Ray Vaughn; six brothers and eight sisters.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Campbell.
