Luther V. Hurst

Luther V. Hurst, age 83, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, peacefully passed away at his home on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

Luther Hurst was born on April 23, 1943, in Anna, Texas, to the late Johnie and Geneva (Shaw) Hurst. He married Mary (Potts) Hurst in Albany, Oklahoma, on November 7, 1964. Luther proudly served his country in the United States Army during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to duty and service. Following his military career, he dedicated many years to Ford Motor Company, where he rose to the position of plant manager before retiring. Outside of his professional life, Luther had a deep passion for golf. He was an active member of his community and served as president of the Lake Fork Golf Association, where he formed lasting friendships and shared his love of the game.

Luther is survived by his wife, Mary Hurst; son, Ronald Hurst and wife Randi; daughter, Pamela Fletcher and husband David; grandchildren, Kristen Wisdom and husband Mitchell, Jackson Wisdom, Claire Jackson and husband Jameson, Ellie Jo Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Johnie Hurst, and an infant sister.
