Marie Hayes

Graveside service for Marie Hayes, age 84, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Restlawn Memorial Park with Tony Hurley officiating and Jeff Kinsey, Dillon Kinsey, Kolton Davis, Rusty Stillwagoner, Russell Stillwagoner, and Mason Stillwagoner serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home prior to the service. Mrs. Hayes passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

Marie Hayes was born on December 19, 1941, in Daingerfield, Texas, to the late Marion Colston and Ethel Mae Pilgrim. Marie married Charles Randolph Hayes on June 14, 1962, and they shared 61 loving years of marriage until his passing on December 21, 2023. Marie was a talented seamstress who enjoyed sewing for the public and sharing her gift with others. She also loved cooking and could often be found looking through her favorite cookbooks for new recipes and inspiration. Marie worked for many years at M&F Western Products, where she eventually retired. She will be remembered for her talents, her love of cooking, and the many years she devoted to her family and community.

Marie is survived by her sister, Virginia Miller; daughters, Traci and husband Jeff Kinsey of Cumby, Texas, Nancy and husband Rusty Stillwagoner of Sulphur Springs, Texas; five grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Marvin Pilgrim; sisters, Mary Wallace, Marion Brown, Lillie Foster, and Ruby Hall; and grandson, Samuel Stillwagoner.
