Marshall Hurley

March 6, 1937 — May 25, 2014

Marshall Harold Hurley of Sweeny, TX was born March 6, 1937, to Josiah Alonso "Lon" Hurley and Willie Annis Craig in Reilly Springs, TX. His life on this earth ended unexpectedly on May 25, 2014.
He began his adult life as a dairy farmer, but decided he couldn't find a "five day a week cow", so he began his career with his brother, Wayne, as a heavy equipment operator. Shortly after, he started his career with Brown & Root as a heavy equipment operator, progressing to foreman and eventually general superintendent. He traveled all over the United States through both work and family pleasure. He was an excellent instructor to his kids, in-laws, grand kids and also to the people he employed. He had lots of patience and would say "do the best that you can or don't do it at all". He also said, "you could be anything you wanted to be," and pushed his children to be the best at what they do.
He could build more with less than any other person the family knew. He was very resourceful and never wanted to get rid of anything. His visions became realities.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 54 years, Jo Ann Friddle Hurley, his daughter, Pamela Jean Hurley, his granddaughter, Mika Kraemer, his parents, brothers, J.W., James Royal, Billy Joe, Wayne Craig and Tommy Ray Hurley and a sister Kathleen Hurley.
He is survived by his three children, Vicki Kraemer (Mike) of Sweeny, Monte Hurley (Robin) of West Columbia and Gayla Oaks (Randy) of Sweeny, Seven grandchildren, Lashele Almonte, Thomas Kraemer, Matthew Kraemer, Randal Oaks, Kaylynn Neiman, Justin and Travis Hurley and ten great grandchildren, three sisters, Luvena Owens Sulphur Springs, Ima Jean Baxley of Sulphur Springs and Zelma Gaisbauer of Dallas and Numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Thomas Kraemer, Matthew Kraemer, Randal Oaks, Justin Hurley, Mike Gaisbauer and Chris Gaisbauer.
