Mary Valerie Collum Barnhill

Funeral service for Mary Valerie Collum Barnhill, age 94 of Sulphur, Louisiana, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Dwight Alexander officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Joshua Barnhill, Brandon Barnhill, Todd Barnhill, Daniel Barnhill, Collin Alexander, Grant Alexander and Greg Barnhill serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Barnhill passed away on April 26, 2025, at the High Hope Care Center in Sulphur, Louisiana.

Mary was born on March 4, 1931 to Charley and Georgia Collum in Arden, Arkansas. She married Tom Barnhill in Oak Grove, Louisiana, on September 28, 1946. Tom preceded her in death in 2012. Mary was a member of the League Street Church of Christ.

She is survived by her two sons, Larry Wayne Barnhill and wife Brenda of Newcastle, Oklahoma and Jerry Dale Barnhill and wife Sharon of Longville, Louisiana; grandchildren Greg Barnhill, Shelly Capps, Jerry Todd Barnhill, Jennifer Martinez, Sarah Sheffield, Daniel Barnhill, Brandon Barnhill, Joshua Barnhill, Grant Alexander, and Collin Alexander; fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Josie Snodgrass, of Odessa, Texas and brother, George Collum of Odessa, Texas.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Tina Alexander; sisters, Shirley Taylor, May Bell, and Dorothy Ainsworth; and brothers, Glen Collum, Cecil Aaron, and Curtis Aaron.
