Mattie Davis

Funeral services for Mattie Lou Davis, age 74, of Sulphur Springs,
will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home, Friday, February 18,
2010, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Charles Davis officiating. Interment
will follow Mahoney Cemetery with Bene Davis, Mark Davis, Tim Davis,
Gene Sanders, C.J. Davis, and Doak Robbins serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Robbins, Robin Robbins, Robert Bush,
Gordon Lee, Darrell Vines, John Lubke, J.D. Vickers, and Jack Lawson.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.
Mattie Lou Davis passed away at her residence, Monday evening,
February 14, 2011. She was born in Paris, on May 12, 1936, the
daughter of Thomas Lee and Grace Wright Hopkins Weaver. She married
Dr. Billy Wayne Davis in Honey Grove on August 22, 1957. He survives.
Mrs. Davis was a retired school teacher. She was a member of Our
Savior Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women Missionary League. She
was also a member of the Gideons Auxilary and the Arizona Education
Association.
Other survivors include: daughter, Beth Sanders, of Atlanta, GA;
sons, Bene Davis, of Lindale, Mark Davis, of Santa Ana, CA, and Tim
Davis, of Irvine, CA; sister, Elizabeth Robbins, of Dallas;
grandchildren, Jennifer Holm, Kenny Davis, Kyle Davis, Lindsay
Sanders, Ashleigh Sanders, Zachary Sanders, Spencer Davis, Graden
Davis, Larkin Davis, Christian Davis, and Summer Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Women Missionary League, 1000
Texas St., Sulphur Springs, TX 75482.
